04.11.2016 Judy murray visits Fuse! - Judy Murray visited our children at Fuse as part off her "Tennis On The Road" tour for children in need! During the visit, Judy chatted with some of the young people from Fuse Youth Café and staff to find out more about their work. Then, with the help of her Tennis on the Road partner and professional coach, Kris Soutar, she set up six stations with varying degrees of difficulty to show the youngsters how they could get in on the tennis action - on or off court - using everyday objects found in their own homes. The duo brought in everything from balls, bean bags and balloons paired with racquets and biscuit tin lids, or just your hands, to help the young people practice basic rallying skills. Judy said: “I had such a lovely time meeting the children and staff at Fuse Youth Café, and seeing first-hand the difference that BBC Children in Need funding is making. One of things I’m always keen to get across is that absolutely anyone can get involved with tennis, no matter their skill set or means. All you really need is a bit of creativity and motivation, and you can take ordinary objects from around the home to get a game going. The children at Fuse Youth had tons of motivation, thanks to all of the work they’ve been doing around staying active, and spending time with them brought back such fond memories of playing with my boys when they were younger.” Speaking of the visit Fuse Youth Café Manager, Gerry Baldwin said: “We were so delighted to have Judy Murray visit us! Some of the children had recently finished a tennis taster session and were eager to play again. They had a fantastic time with Judy and Kris, and we even heard from some of the parents that children had balled up socks at home to practice their backhand! Her enthusiasm has certainly inspired them to just get out and enjoy being active, no matter their ability, which is what we’re all about.” [more]
